New Leader Orientation
Are you ready to take the next step in creating positive change?
Our virtual orientations are designed for anyone interested in partnering with SOLVE. Whether you’re new to our work, a long-time volunteer stepping into a leadership role, or part of a community group or nonprofit looking to expand your impact, these sessions will guide you in using SOLVE’s resources effectively. The final 30 minutes will be reserved for questions, allowing you to explore specific topics or get tailored guidance.
During the Orientation, We’ll Cover:
- Navigating the Volunteer Site
- Stages of Event Leadership
- Event Expectations: Before, During, and After
- Available Resources
- Next Steps
How to Join an Orientation
- Create a SOLVE account.
- Browse the calendar below to select and register for an upcoming orientation.
If none of the available times work for you, email us at programs@solveoregon.org to arrange a one-on-one session at a time that works for you.
Teens Lead, Adults Support
Teens ages 13–17 are welcome to lead SOLVE events with adult support! Together, you’ll share responsibilities: the teen takes the lead in welcoming volunteers and guiding the project, while the adult ensures safety, logistics, and requirements are met. To ensure safety and success:
- A parent, guardian, or trusted adult must:
- Create a SOLVE account
- Attend orientation (required for the adult)
- Be present at the event as the official safety lead (ensuring waivers are signed and handling any incidents)
- The teen should also:
- Create their own SOLVE account to learn and actively participate in the leadership process.
- Join the orientation with their adult if possible. This is optional but preferred, as it helps them prepare for leadership.
Planning to lead an event in April or September?
These are our busiest months, and we want to ensure your project has the support it needs. To host during this time, you must:
- Complete a SOLVE Leader Orientation
- Submit your event for approval at least 4 weeks in advance of your event date
