EARTH DAY AT THE REFUGE / DÍA DE LA TIERRA EN EL REFUGIO

Join us for a litter cleanup and invasive species removal event where we’ll beautify the Ankeny Hill Nature Center and Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge by removing trash, removing invasive plants, and spreading wood chips to prevent future invasive species from growing. This is a chance to learn more about native plants, remove invasive species, and tidy up trails and viewpoints on the Refuge! Event will involve walking, kneeling, wheeling heavy items, and more.
This event is in collaboration with SOLVE in honor of this year's Earth Day.
Advanced Registration: Is highly suggested but not required. Please sign up (green button below) ahead of time to guarantee your spot.
Meeting Location: Meet at the South entrance of the Ankeny Hill Nature Center off Ankeny Hill Road. Continue up the driveway to park at the upper hill parking lot.

What to Bring: Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a backpack for hands-free convenience. Feel free to bring your personal tools if available and a reusable water bottle to support our sustainability efforts.
What's Provided: Gloves, Trash Pickers, Waste bags, Knee Pads, Hand Shovels, Water Bottles, Carts, and more!
Restrooms: Two gender-neutral bathrooms are available in front of the building.
Parking: There are two available parking lots near the meeting site. The third lot is 0.5 miles away but can be made available if necessary.

Accessibility: This area is accessible for folks with mobility concerns.
Translation Services: There will be a Spanish speaker present at this event.
