Vernonia Lake Volunteer Tree Planting

The Upper Nehalem Watershed Council has partnered with the City of Vernonia to continue riparian plantings at the historic Mill Pond, now known as Vernonia Lake. Join as a volunteer to plant native trees along the riparian area between the lake and the Nehalem River. 

Wear your mud boots, work clothes, and gloves as we will clear the ground and dig holes to plant native trees and shrubs. Bring water and we bring the snacks, tools and trees! This is a family friendly event. 

Advanced Registration: Is required. Please sign up (green button below) ahead of time to guarantee your spot.

Meeting Location: Volunteers will meet at the Vernonia Lake parking lot. You will find a sign-up table and tent, snacks, and a small trailer with tools and plant stock.

What to Bring: Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a backpack for hands-free convenience. Feel free to bring your personal tools if available and a reusable water bottle to support our sustainability efforts.

What's Provided: All tools for digging and clearing, native plant stock, first aid kit, coffee, tea and snacks.

Restrooms: Vernonia Lake has male and female bathrooms at the parking lot, and one pit toilet on the south side of the Lake on the bike trail.

Parking: The Vernonia Lake has a parking lot with a $5 parking fee.

Transit: Not available nearby

Accessibility: This area may not be easily accessible for folks with mobility concerns.

Translation Services: There will not be a Spanish speaker present at this event.
